I LOVE the GREAT OUTDOORS!

I LOVE THE GREAT OUTDOORS!

I absolutely love the stamp sets that come in the Fun Stampers Journey Bloom Boxes.  Not only are the sets a regular size high quality red rubber stamp set, but after three months they become available for everyone to purchase.  I used the stamp set, The Great Outdoors, from the August Bloom Box.  This set is great for masculine cards, and even Christmas.

I made this card for the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge (WWC84)

I deconstructed, and used a few pieces of one of the Bloom Box card kits.

I used a lot of different techniques on this card.  I used pan pastels to color the moose and her antlers.  I stamped the moose, and then stamped the antlers twice, cut the top of the antlers out of one of the sets and popped them up. I stamped the moose on Oatmeal Cookie CS, with Cocoa Powder Ink. I roughed up the edges of the Oatmeal Cookie CS by using the outside edge of my Detail Pro Shears.  I used two colors of Pan Pastels, Pumpkin Bread, and Hazelnut Blend.  Using a light and a dark brown allowed for shading.  For the red stripe on the moose head I used our new Journey Color Splash pencils. Another technique I used was embossing with a die cut.  I LOVE this! For this,  I used the Persian Gardens die on Pomegranate Splash CS.  I used Buttercream CS for the base of my card.  To finish the card, I used a Wooden Accents button and Journey Natural Twine.

Here is a close up of the antlers being popped up.  Richard says, when in doubt, POP it out!!!

I love this set so much, and especially the moose, that I did another card for my monthly clubs. ….and, Here it is.  I made few changes, and simplified it just a little bit.  The biggest differences, is the moose is stamped on Buttercream CS instead of Oatmeal Cookie CS.  The other difference is that the antlers are just one layer instead of popping up the second set of antlers.  I  also used the metallic gold Silk. I used the Journey Circle die with the perforations to stamp the moose on.

So, these are the two cards side by side.  Which do you like best?

  1. Heidi Weaver says:

What a fun card, Char. Changing the stripes at the side to banners works beautifully for your design and still keeps to Deborah’s sketch. Love what you’ve done with the moose, especially propping up the one antler and tying that little string around it. Great colours and a great idea. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

  2. We’re so happy you’ve started participating in our blog hops Char. It’s fun to see what you’ll create, and you always bring something great to the table. Your moose is simply stellar. I really like the popped up antlers, and the red shading on the moose face. You’ve done an excellent job with Deb’s sketch challenge too!
