A Pretty Bird Christmas

Hey Everyone,

I love this Pretty Bird ATS set.  It includes three cute little birds, and costs only $7.95.  I first saw the fold I used with this card from my Amazing upline, Deb Valder.  It is a really simple fancy fold.  This weeks challenge for Watercooler Wednesday is any kind of special fold. Perfect! This card also worked for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Here is my card.  Hope you like it.

This is how the card looks when looking down so that you can see the special fold.

…and here is one more picture of the inside of the card.

All of the products used on this card are from Fun Stampers Journey.  I used two ATS sets. The Pretty Birds, and Winter Fred, the snowman.  I used Fred’s santa hat for the pretty bird. I also used the snow flakes from the Winter Holiday stamp set stamped with clear pigment ink.  I used Candy Apple,  and Whip Cream card stock. To color the pretty bird I used our Color Splash pencils and blended with our Journey Blending Brush.  To accent the santa hat I embellished with our Sparkle Drops.  I hope you noticed her red painted toes?.  🙂  So cute! The printed paper is our 6 x 6, Tis The Season Prints.

The directions for the special fold are:

Cut a 2″ circle out of Whip Cream cs.  The bird will be stamped on this. You will use this same circle die to cut a circle out of the card front.

Outside card is 5 1/2  X 8 1/2. Score at 4 1/4″.

Inside piece: 5 1/4 X 6 1/2. Score at 2″, 4″, and 6″.  That will leave a 1/2″ tab.

fold-card

The 1/2″ tab needs to be trimmed so that it is not seen from the front.

fold-card3

After the 1st 2″ panel is adhered to the back of the card, fold the rest of the panels back on themselves, (but do not glue) and add adhesive to the tabs.

fold-copy1Fold the front of the card closed so that the tabs are adhered to the inside.  Add adhesive to the part of inside of the card that shows through the circle opening.  This is where the white circle, stamped with the pretty bird, will adhere.  Only 1/2 of the white circle will be adhered to card.  This allows for the swing of the card.

Here is the card one more time.  🙂

I hope these directions are clear.  If not, and you have questions, let me know and I will try to make directions clearer.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Hope you liked the Pretty Birds card and will leave me a comment.

Can You Case It? Peace

Hey Everyone,

The bi-weekly Can You Case It? challenge is a color challenge this time around.  I love the colors that Wynn, a design team member, came up with for this challenge.  They seem so calm and peaceful to me.  For this card I was inspired not only by these colors, but also by a card Richard Garay demonstrated in a video this week.  I will share the link to his video at the end of this post.

cyci-142

So here is how I did it:

First, I used our Clear Pigment Ink and white embossing powder to emboss the white snowflakes. I embossed them on our Color Splash paper.  After the snowflakes were embossed I used Fun Stampers Journey Color Burst Pencils, and our Blending Brush to create the background of my card.  I used the #25, #27, and #33 pencils.  This is the technique Richard did that inspired my card. Next I stamped the word Peace,  from the Holiday Script Bundle with the Clear Pigment Ink and used Silver Embossing Powder on Vellum.  The leaves were from the Autumn Time Bundle. I really like to use stamps in an outside the box kinda way. Like the autumn leaf as a Christmas y leaf.  I stamped with clear pigment ink on our Brush Silver cardstock. This was also used for the 2nd layer on the card.  I love the look of silver emboss on Silver Brush CS. .  I used the Pocket Cuts Die for the stitched look on the Deep Lilac cardstock.  The embellishments I used were the Cut Rhinestones. The base of my card is Whip Cream cardstock.

Can You Case It? My Deer

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for stopping by my site today.

This weeks Can You Case It ? challenge is a sketch challenge. It was a little tricky for me, but that is one of the reasons I love challenges.  It pushes me to create things I may not have gotten to on my own.  Check out the sketch.

cyci-142

For my card, I kept it simple like the sketch. I used the Winter Holiday stamp set and even though it has dies to bundle I didn’t use them.

Winter Holiday

Winter Holiday

I used Cocoa Powder Ink, Candy Apple Ink and Cardstock, and I used the Confectionary Days Pan Pastels for the blue background. t is hard to see in this picture but I used our Journey Glaze on the ornaments.

To get the sentiment perfectly straight I used the Misty to align Happy Winter Holidays. That is all there is to it.  Very quick and simple.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you will leave me a comment.

Can You Case It? We’re Back!!!!

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a while since I posted a CAN YOU CASE IT? challenge, but we are back.  Our challenges will be moving to two week periods.  More time to get those creative juices going!  I have really missed being a part of the group, the challenges, and seeing everyone’s creativity. I can’t to see what everyone posts these next two weeks.

This challenge is a color challenge.  The colors Elizabeth chose made me think of fall leaves, not that we have any fall colored leaves in Florida yet,……. everything is still green and sunny.  Although, morning and evenings are cooling off just a bit, it’s still not sweater weather.

The colors of cardstock in this card are Pineapple Smoothie, Orange Creamsicle, and Cookie Crumb.  I also used our Water Splash paper.

cyci140-color

cyci140yellow\

For the background I used our Journey Clear Pigment Ink and the Playful Leaves, (SS-0234) backgound stamp.  The clear pigment ink makes the stamped image several shades darker than the card stock it is stamped on.

For the  colors on the leaves, I used the technique FSJ coaches are calling Watercolor Splash.  I love this technique because not only is it quick and easy but beautiful.

Here’s how you do it.  Spray Orange Rave, Pineapple Smoothie, and Lemon Grass Splashes onto a clear sheet of acetate.  Keep your colors close, but not on top of each other.  Spritz a little water on top of the colors.  The pictures below show the watercolor splash technique, but using different colors.

watercolorsplash

Take your Water  Splash paper and put it on top of the colors, squishing and mixing all together.  That’s it.  You may have to blot your colors with a paper towel and hit with the heat gun if in a hurry.

watercolorsmush

After this is dry,  stamp the leaves with Dark Roast and run them through the Amaze Machine .  The leaves are from the set Autumn Time Bundle (BD-0057).

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you will leave me a comment.

Fun Stampers Journey Bloom Box

Even though the November Bloom Box is now available…..it is November!  WOW!  Time is zooming by, I wanted to post some cards from the October Bloom Box.  I love the fairies and I loved coloring with our Color Splash pencils. These watercolor pencils are AMAZING!  They are so smooth and the colors are awesome.   One of the great things about our Bloom Box is that the stamp set will be available for purchase to everyone three months later….. 🙂

bloombox-fairies

Even though we get a great color booklet with directions for four cards I have a hard time following directions.  The bottom card,( Lemon Grass and Purple Fusion) is directly from the brochure.

I did follow directions for that one.   For this next card I totally departed from our brochure.  I love that even though so many of us received the same Bloom Box kit, same products and supplies, there will be so many different and creative cards.

bloomboxfai

Two of my favorite products from Fun Stampers Journey are our Modeling Paste, and stencils.  I used the Ring Stacks stencil and Modeling Paste for the background.  I then added color with our Confectionary Days Pan Pastels.  I colored the little fairy with our Color Splash watercolor pencils. To finish it I added sparkle dust to her wings for a little sparkle.

This next picture are of lots of the fairies that I colored….just because once I started I just couldn’t stop.

The November Bloom Box is so cute I can’t wait to get mine.  Here is a preview of what is coming our way.  If you are not a subscriber but would love to receive a monthly box of creativity, just go to my website and click on Bloom Box.  🙂

Fred The Snowman

This cute little card is a preview of one of my next club cards.  I love this little snowman named Fred, and y’all know how much I love challenges so I have entered Fred in the Watercooler Wednesday Weekly challenge.

Fred

Fred

wwc88-heidis-sketch-challenge

I used Modeling paste and the Circle Bliss stencil to add texture for the back drop of Fred.  Fred is one of Fun Stampers Journey ATS(Artisan Trading Stamp) stamps.  This cute little set is free to hostesses and only $7.95 in the catalog.  Fred has two hats to choose from, but I love the santa hat.  I used Journey Glaze, and Sparkle Dust to add shine to the hats.  I also used our Gesso with a little water added to flick the drops of white on the card.  I love our Journey Silver Twine, and our Sparkle Drops for Fred’s buttons. I used Candy Apple, and Pool Play CS. The sentiment Believe, comes from the Oh Holy stamp set. The snowflake was one of our free Bloom Rewards.  Don’t you LOVE all of the freebies that we get with FSJ?!!

Here is one more close up picture of the modeling paste and the texture it adds to any project.

Blooming Snowflakes

SADLY….THIS WILL BE THE LAST CAN YOU CASE IT? challenge post.  I have really enjoyed being a Design Team Member for CYCI? and I have learned so much!!  Thank you Eva Bussom, You are AMAZING!

This week I have a QUICK and EASY card, which is so unlike me!  🙂  I used my free Snowflake embellishments on this card.   Not only are they FREE, but beautiful too!  When anyone purchases $50 in product from FSJ they get to choose a free BLOOM reward.  These wooden snowflake embellishments I used on this card are free Bloom rewards….at least until the end of September.

cyci-140

For my oh so simple card this week, I used the sentiment, JOY TO THE WORLD from the set,  OH HOLY.                 .

Joy to the World

Joy to the World

The base of my card is Oatmeal Cookie.  I used Cool Pool card stock and ribbon, and Whip Cream ink.    I used the snow flake elements which are free bloom rewards. It is hard to see in the picture below, but they have a lot of sparkle!!!

snowflake-blooms

Here is a Richard Tip.  We do not have a white silk so Richard showed us how to use our Gesso in one of his fabulous videos.  You just put a fingernail size drop of the Gesso onto a clear sheet, add a little water to loosen it up, mix that together, dip one of our brushes in it, and splatter it on to our project.  I LOVE the way it turned out!

snowflakw-splatter

Other FUN STAMPERS JOURNEY products I used were the Journey Circle die with perforation.  Silver Journey Twine, Pearl Embellishments, and Cool Pool Satin Ribbon.

Here is one more look at my card.  Hope you enjoyed it, and can find some inspiration in it.

FALL IS IN THE AIR! CYCI #139

FALL IS IN THE AIR  with Fun Stampers Journey die cuts, inks, cardstocks. …..and, another Can You Case It? challenge.  We have a color challenge this week but for me, it was not an easy one.  The challenge is for a rainbow of colors, although Eva said “no rainbows”  🙂 .  I thought about the whole spectrum of color for a while and then realized I did not have to use every color.  Whew!  That made it easier.  So with fall in the air…I used fall colors.cyci-139

This is a great way to use up small scraps of card stock.  I cut scraps into 1/2″ strips and adhered them to a piece of paper. I used my Journey Circle dies to cut a circle out of the center.  Do you ever have happy accidents when stamping.  That is what happened.  The two dies shifted when I went to cut them out so that the circle was wider on one side and skinnier on the other.  I liked it!!! This wonky circle is where my rainbow of colors come in.

A fall rainbow

A fall rainbow

If you follow my blog you know I use the SnapShot Frames Die A LOT!!!!!   For this card I used the leaves and the Fall sentiment from this set.  I die cut leaves out of Buttercream CS and sponged colors on them.  I always begin with the lightest color first, and then layer darker colors. You can see the order of colors I used on the leaves below. The first leaf just has Pineapple Smoothie ink in the center.  Orange Creamsicle ink was added to the 2nd leaf, then Rasberry Berry, still on outer edges of the leaf, and then on the 4th leaf, Cocoa Powder ink was added to outside edges.

fall-rain-steps

fall-rain-close

For the Fall sentiment  I used the same colors and layered from top to bottom, light to dark,  but left off the Coco Powder ink.fall-rain-leaves-close

I sponged around the edges of the Pineapple Smoothie rectangle with Tangerine Fusion Ink.  As Richard always says…”When in doubt, POP it out”.  I popped the fall sentiment and the leaves out with Journey foam squares.  For the embellishment, I colored the edges of the wooden button with Tangerine Fusion Ink and tied a bow with our journey Twine.

DON’T FORGET: Only one more week!!!!!

Need Tools?  FSJ tools are on sale until the end of September.  This includes adhesives, Blocks, Tapes, Scissors, Cutters, Crease Tools, The Bloom Tool, and so much more.

SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE!!!!

OH BOY!!  The CAN YOU CASE IT? Challenge this week was a REAL challenge.  It is a Shaker Card.  Yikes!!!

shaker-sketch-138

I used Layered Leaves Die for my Shaker Card.  I LOVE this die!!!  I maaaayyyy have gotten a little carried away with the amount of sequins I used for the card.  It was hard to know just how much was enough. 🙂

Shaker Card

Shaker Card

I began this card by using Cocoa Powder CS. I almost completely covered it up by adding the Citrus Cooler to the inside.  I also used Citrus Cool CS to cut the leaves.  I cut two sets of the leaves.  Part went on the front of the card for the shaker part,  and some I cut apart and attached to the inside of card for some added interest.

This is a close-up view of the card front. The button is used to keep the card front closed.  You can’t see it in the picture but I painted the outside edge of the button with Dark Roast Silk.

shaker-close

This is the foam I used to make the shaker card.  I cut it in thin strips and attached to the acetate that was glued to the backside of  the leaves die.

Fun Stampers Products I used for this card:                                 Annual Celebration, Great Stamp set because it has all of the holidays covered.  The Layered Leaves Die (MY FAVORITE), Citrus Cooler C.S, Cocoa Powder CS, and Ink, Gold And Dark Roast Silks, Journey Twine, Wooden Accents Buttons, Sparkle Celebrations…Lemongrass and Clear. I used Journey Glaze as an adhesive to attach the button.

I LOVE the GREAT OUTDOORS!

I LOVE THE GREAT OUTDOORS!

I absolutely love the stamp sets that come in the Fun Stampers Journey Bloom Boxes.  Not only are the sets a regular size high quality red rubber stamp set, but after three months they become available for everyone to purchase.  I used the stamp set, The Great Outdoors, from the August Bloom Box.  This set is great for masculine cards, and even Christmas.

I made this card for the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge (WWC84)

wwc84-debs-sketch-challenge

I deconstructed, and used a few pieces of one of the Bloom Box card kits.

deer-head-wcw

I used a lot of different techniques on this card.  I used pan pastels to color the moose and her antlers.  I stamped the moose, and then stamped the antlers twice, cut the top of the antlers out of one of the sets and popped them up. I stamped the moose on Oatmeal Cookie CS, with Cocoa Powder Ink. I roughed up the edges of the Oatmeal Cookie CS by using the outside edge of my Detail Pro Shears.  I used two colors of Pan Pastels, Pumpkin Bread, and Hazelnut Blend.  Using a light and a dark brown allowed for shading.  For the red stripe on the moose head I used our new Journey Color Splash pencils. Another technique I used was embossing with a die cut.  I LOVE this! For this,  I used the Persian Gardens die on Pomegranate Splash CS.  I used Buttercream CS for the base of my card.  To finish the card, I used a Wooden Accents button and Journey Natural Twine.

Here is a close up of the antlers being popped up.  Richard says, when in doubt, POP it out!!!

deer-close-wcw

I love this set so much, and especially the moose, that I did another card for my monthly clubs. ….and, Here it is.  I made few changes, and simplified it just a little bit.  The biggest differences, is the moose is stamped on Buttercream CS instead of Oatmeal Cookie CS.  The other difference is that the antlers are just one layer instead of popping up the second set of antlers.  I  also used the metallic gold Silk. I used the Journey Circle die with the perforations to stamp the moose on.
deer-club

Here is a close up of the coloring on the moose’s antlers.

So, these are the two cards side by side.  Which do you like best?

Remember, you can not order The Great Outdoors set for a couple more months.  For other items, click on the catalog icon and you can order any of the products used on these cards.

If you love the idea of getting an exclusive stamp set and four hand cut and packaged project kits, check out the September Bloom Box.  Check out the video.  🙂

Happy Stamping,
