Life Is Good

LIFE IS GOOD!

I made this card for the challenge at Watercooler Wednesday ( WWC82).   The challenge this week was about trees.  I love our Tickled Pink set, and I am a Florida girl, so a palm tree worked for me!   I guess by now everyone knows I love the watercolor splash technique.  I used it on watercolor paper for this card for the background.

This was a really quick post with no real details but all of our Fun Stampers Journey Splashes can be found on page 291.  The stamp sets I used are Tickled Pink (SS-0265), and Natural Wonder (SS-0319).  I used the top of Moose for the foliage at the bottom of the card.  I  stamped on Black Licorice CS with Black Licorice Ink and fussy cut.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you liked my card and will leave me a comment.

CAN YOU CASE IT? #135 Back To School

CAN YOU CASE IT? #135   BACK TO SCHOOL

The challenge this week from CYCI? is all about going back to school.  Last week I didn’t have a pet stamp and had to think outside the box a bit with my Lil Monster pet.  This week I don’t have any “school” stamps, so once again I had to put on my thinking cap. I love the card I came up with!

CYCI 135

This is the first year of my retirement from teaching, but I’ll still be a Trenton High School Tiger at Heart..    School colors are Orange and Black, thus the colors for my card.  My favorite part of this card is the embossed star.  I’ll explain how that was done later.  The stamp set I used is Party Girls (SS-0283).  I used this little party girl, with her megaphone, because she reminded me of a cheerleader.

Come one come all

Come one come all

I used FSJ’s Journey Color Splash watercolor pencils(JM-0078), to color the image.  They are so smooth and vibrant!! I used the Orange Rave Silk to put the drops of orange on the card. I tied a small bow with the Black Licorice Journey Twine and attached with an orange paperclip.  The sentiment “Don’t Let Your Dreams Be Dreams” is from our July Bloom Box. I used Orange Creamcicle (CS-0024), Black Licorice (CS-0003), and Whip Cream (CS-0040) cardstocks.

My favorite part of this card is the embossed star.  I hope you can see the star behind the party girl.

The pictures below show the steps on how to emboss with cutting dies.  I love this technique!!!!

First *Place dies so that the cutting blades are down.  Nest the dies you want to use, making sure they are spaced evenly.

*I use washi tape on the flat side of die to secure the dies so that they stay spaced the way I want.

*Layers for this technique are: Magnetic Platform, Rubber Mat, Card Stock, Star Die(cutting side down), and Cutting Plate.  Run that through the machine and it will come out with an embossed star.  See picture.

I LOVE a PEACH BLOSSOM

Getting involved in the Can You case It? challenges has been such a great experience.  If you have not participated in stamping challenges you should give it a try.  There are a lot of sites that put great challenges out there.  I like participating because of the direction the challenge leads me, whether it is a sketch, color, or theme challenge.

Today I am posting a card I did for two different challenges.  I LOVE the colors for Watercooler Wednesday, and I really liked the sketch challenge from Freshlymadesketches.

WWC81 - Gail's Color ChallengeFreshly Made sketches 250

I submitted two cards for the WWC81 challenge!

For my card I used a new favorite set of mine called Peach Blossom (SS-0342) pg 52.

Peach Blossom Splash

Peach Blossom Splash

I used the technique FSJ coaches are calling Watercolor Splash.  I love this technique because not only is it quick and easy but beautiful.

Here’s how you do it.  Spray Orange Rave, Sour Lemon, Outrageous Pink Splashes onto a clear sheet of acetate.  Keep your colors close, but not on top of each other.  Spritz a little water on top of the colors.  Take your CS and put it on top of the colors, squishing and mixing all together.  That’s it.  You may have to blot your colors with a paper towel and hit with the heat gun if in a hurry.  For the flowers I stamped the peach blossom in Black Licorice on CS,and did the same thing.  I did several flowers and they all look different. I also added our Journey Gold, and Orange Rave silks to the background. (see close up below)

peach supplies

These are the bottles of Splashes and silks that I used to create the colors in the background and the flower.  I did several sheets of watercolor paper at one time.

PEACH WCW CLOSE BACK

Other products I used:

Journey Rectangle and Circle dies with perforations, pg 254, Journey Black Twine, pg 311, and for the sentiment…Tickled Pink (SS-0265), pg 170.

I did a couple of other cards using the same technique, colors, and stamp set.  They all look a little different.Which is your favorite?

I also submitted this card to the WatercoolerWednesday challenge.  🙂

You can see how different all three cards look even though the backgrounds, flowers, and leaves were inked at the same time.  Hope you enjoyed my cards.

CAN YOU CASE IT? #134 My Lil Monster Pet

CAN YOU CASE IT ? #134  A Pet ChallengeCYCI #134

We have a really FUN challenge this week at Can You Case It?  Do you have a pet?  Wish You had a pet?  Or know what kind of pet you would choose to have?  If so, this is a challenge for you.     Me? I don’t have a pet.            BUT…..If I chose a pet, I would choose a cute little purpley pink guy with tons of personality,  just like this one.  Like almost everyone I know He would love to take selfies, just like this card shows.   I LOVE this Lil Monster (AT-0158).  I also used the Selfie Love (SS-0029) stamp set.  I used the Snapshot Frames (Di-0045), and the Cloud Dreams (DI-0032).  I used Pan Pastels to color the Lil Monster, and the sky.  For embellishments I used the Love Is punch (TO-0006), Journey Glaze (AD-0002), Amazing Accents (AC-0201), and Candy Minis (AC-0135). I used Whip Cream, Black Licorice, Cosmic Grape, and Vellum Cardstock. For ink, I used Black Licorice and River Stone.  To add some dimension to the solid black frame I used the Chevron stencil (JM-0011), Clear Pigment Ink (IP-0102) and clear embossing powder.

So here is is….all full of himself and proud of his selfie shot.  🙂

CAN YOU CASE IT? #133 A Color Challenge

                       Can You Case It? #133

Another week….another Can You Case It? challenge. This week we have a color challenge.  I really like the way my card turned out this week and it is one of the easiest and quickest cards I have ever done!

Lemon Drop, Limeade Splash, Neutrals

For these cards I used one of our new dies from the Framed Dies collection.  There are a lot of these frame dies but the one I chose for this project is called Floral View (DI-0216) pg 249.  I cut the floral View design out of Black Licorice CS.

Floral View

There are two ways that you can get the color behind parts the Floral View Die.

The first way is to cut one Lemon Drop and one Limeade Splash out of the Floral die.    Next,  adhere the Black Licorice die onto a piece of Whip Cream and glue the coordinating pieces into the Black licorice die.  They will fit perfectly, just like a puzzle!  Make sure all of the extra pieces are removed from the Black Licorice CS.

OR…. and this is the way I did it.

You can put the colored CS behind the die and lightly trace the shape of the flower or leaf you wish to show with color.  Next,  cut the piece out so that it fits behind the entire flower and leaf shapes.   After these colored pieces are adhered to the back of the floral view design,  I attached it to a piece of Whip Cream CS.  **This is a great way to use scraps!!!!

In this picture you can see where I cut the shape of the flower, leaf, and center dot of flower.  It is not necessary to be precise when cutting these shapes out.  In the 2nd picture you can see where the pieces were adhered to the back side of the Black Licorice Floral View Die.

I used a sentiment from the set Homemade Bundle(SS-0150) pg 135 to finish off the card.  I love the way tis turned out and can’t wait to use some of the other Frame Dies.

This card was so quick and simple I made a second one using one of our new AMAZING colors…Outrageous Pink.  I love this bright, hot color!

Here are both of the cards!!  All I changed about the cards was the landscape and color.  Which do you like best?

CAN YOU CASE IT #132 A Sketch Challenge

CAN YOU CASE IT?

The challenge from Can You Case It? this week is a simple sketch challenge.  I have a really hard time keeping my cards simple.  I love the look of clean and simple but it is something I need to work on.  With that being said, my card is kinda simple.

CYCI Sketch Challenge

CYCI Sketch Challenge

To begin this card, I used our Splashes, Turbo Teal, Electric Lime, to create a water colored background. When the background was dry I used our gold silk, (IP-0096) pg. 29. I stamped the image of the deer onto the colored paper.  The image of the deer came from the set Spirit Animals (SS-0355) pg.214. One of the images, and the sentiments come from our July Bloom Box.  I am not sure if you can see it in the picture but I curled our Natural Journey Twine (AC-00050) pg.311, and tied it around the flags.  I have to give a shout out to Eva Bussum for her clever idea of curling the twine.  I used our Journey Circle dies (DI-0039) with the perforation around the deer….you can see this better in the close up picture.  I finished by adding Silver Twinkle Trim (AC-0215) pg. 311, and then sprinkling a few more of them onto the card.

I LOVE A Challenge…or THREE!

Who doesn’t love a challenge?  Challenges encourage, give direction, and push me toward a goal. I have enjoyed the challenges over at CAN YOU CASE IT? so much that I decided to try more.  I used today’s card post for three, yes three different challenges.  So EXCITED!

So….Here we go!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this little stamp set. It’s called OOPS!  I am always forgetting something, or running late, so I can use this stamp set for late birthdays, or get well….all kinds of things.   This is actually one of the free Bloom Rewards that you can choose with a $50 order from Fun Stampers J0urney.  Isn’t she just so stinking CUTE??

Fish good 1

I used Cool Pool (CS-01180), Pool Party  (CS-0092), Whip Cream (CS-0040), and River Rock (CS-0094) cardstocks for the color challenge.  I stamped the oopsie fish with black Licorice and colored  with  Lovely Blue ink. I used the Note Pocket Die, pg.256, to make the curved edges for the waves.  The other die that I used was the Snapshot Frames.  I used Wiggle Eyes (AC-0175), Journey Glaze (AD-0002), and Candy mini Dots ( AC-0135) to finish the card.

These are the three challenges I participated in this week.  My Favorite Things, Global Design Project, and Stamp ink Paper.

CAN YOU CASE IT? #131 a Color Challenge

                                  CAN YOU CASE IT?

It’s time for another CAN YOU CASE IT? This week it’s a color challenge, and I love the colors.  I used Lemon Drop, Black Licorice, and Rock Candy.

Lemon Drop, Black Licorice, Gray

Rock Candy, Lemon Drop, Black Licorice

For this weeks challenge I used a new set from the Fun Stampers Journey line of ATS (Artisan Trading Stamps) stamps.  It’s called Lovely Day, and I LOVE it!!

Have a Lovely Day

Have a Lovely Day

I used Whip Cream CS for the base, with Black Licorice CS for the next layer.  I stamped the daisy image twice on Whip Cream CS.  I used Pan Pastels (JM-0082, JM-0080) pg. 280, to color the center of the flowers, the stems, and as shading around the back flowers.  The centers of the flowers were covered with Journey Glaze (AS-0002), pg. 269, to give some shine, and dimension.  I cut Lemon Drop CS with the Snapshot Frames die (DI-0045), pg.259 to frame the daisy image.  I used Black Licorice Fusion Ink to stamp the sentiment. I used a Clearview Sheet (CS-0121), pg. 295 over the opening of the frame and popped that up with Small Journey Foam Squares (AD-0084), pg. 269.  I fussy cut the 2nd daisy image and  attached it to the front of the frame using more Journey Foam Squares.  The little bee is from the Hello Lovely stamp set (SS-0192), pg. 62. After coloring, she was covered in Journey Glaze also.

I think you can see the Journey Glaze on the image below. I love the shine!!!!
